This dinner was part of the Headonism weekend of events and was the result of a 3 week residency Lichen Kelp and Dylan Martorell undertook at Potato Head in September 2022 at the invitation of Via Planet Earth for Potato Heads Regeneration series.
As part of the residency the Seaweed Appreciation Society visited kelp farms on Nusa Penida and Lembongan with Chef Dom from Tanaman, where they met with farmers and discussed the current state of seaweed farms and their precarious existence alongside increasing levels of tourism.
Spinosum collected on the trip was used in some of the dishes at Tanaman as well as in the liquid landscapes and electronic ikebana created by Lichen Kelp as part of the Kelping performance. Dylan Martorell’s percussive robotics were also featured in the performance and the duo were accompanied by I Kadek Janurangga playing water gamelan.
