In August 2019 Lichen Kelp presented the second edition of Drawing Matters, a Matters Journal talk series held at Cams Abbotsford Convent.

Combining contemplative drawing with an intimate talk, each Drawing Matters event hosted a guest speaker who is an original thinker in their field. As guests absorb the talk, they are invited to sketch an artefact relating to the theme displayed in the centre of the room. It’s like life drawing, minus the nudity.

For the SASi event, Lichen discussed her bond with marine algae and will took guests down the ‘kelp highway’ from Norway to Japan to Chile, where recent seaweed discoveries have anthropologists rethinking the history of human migration.

Seaweed nibbles were shared with special kelp cocktail’s made for the event.
